Golden chips are sometimes used as part of casino offers for games like Blackjack and Roulette. 

Golden chips work in much the same way as free bets where you can use the golden chip to place a risk free bet on the casino game. If your bet loses, you have lost your golden chip. If your bet wins, you will win the winnings but you will not receive the value of the golden chip. For example, a £1 golden chip placed on red on roulette would return £1 if the ball ended up on a red number. This is because the stake is not returned.
