The Multi Lay Calculator is for laying a bet with multiple parts where only one of the possible outcomes can win.
A good example is this bet on Scottie Scheffler or Cameron Smith to win the 2023 Masters golf tournament.
Because a maximum of one of these two outcomes can win we can lay this bet in two parts as below:
The reason we can only use this calculator for outcomes where a maximum of one of the lay bets can win is that each lay bet offsets the liability of the other. In the example above if Scottie Scheffler wins the tournament the lay bet on Cameron Smith will win. If Cameron Smith wins the tournament the lay bet on Scottie Scheffler will win. The calculator takes this into account when working out what your final return would be. We cannot use this calculator for bets such as the one below because both of these events could happen so the lay bets would not offset:
Types Of Bet
- Normal - This is when you are placing a bet with your own cash such as the price boost example above
- Free Bet (SNR) - This is for when you are using a free bet
Bet Builders
Offers on bet builders or pre-formed equivalent bets like Skybet’s requestabet are becoming more and more common with bookmakers. You can find a great guide to these bets including the combinations we are able to lay off here.
The Multi Lay Bets Calculator is a great tool for laying off a number of these bets and you may find that laying these bets in this way gives you a lower qualifying loss on your qualifying bets or more profit on your free bets.
In the dropdown box on the calculator you will find a long list of bet builder bets which can be laid in this way as below:
When you select one of these options it will automatically populate the calculator with the correct options for laying this bet off:
We can look at an example on the Manchester City vs Liverpool match:
When we put this into the calculator it will come up with lays on 0-0 and 1-1 because these are the only two possible winning scorelines for our back bet.
Then once we enter the lay odds it will tell us our lay stake and overall position:
This has now covered all outcomes.
If the match ends 0-0 we will win the back bet of £41.80 and the lay bet of £5.18 for a return of £46.98. Then if we deduct the liability of £48.96 that leaves us with a £1.98 qualifying loss.
If the match ends 1-1 we will win the back bet of £41.80 and the lay bet of £2.88 for a return of £44.68. Then if we deduct the liability of £46.62 that leaves us with a £1.94 qualifying loss.
If there is any other result including draws from 2-2 upwards then we would win the £2.88 and £5.18 lay stakes for a return of £8.06. Then if we deduct the £10 we lost with Paddy Power that leaves a qualifying loss of £1.94.
