The Eachway Matcher user interface is one which you will instantly recognise as it follows the same format as other OddsMonkey products such as the OddsMatcher which is used on a variety of different platforms. The user guide will look at each component of The Eachway Matcher so that you are ready to start using this tool.
When you launch the Eachway Matcher, the screen will look like the image below. At first glance, it may look a bit complex but once you have used the product a few times, it becomes relatively straightforward. Below the image, we explain what each section means.
- Event Time- This shows when the race is due to start.
- Details- The horse which we are looking to use in our bet along with a brief overview of the race venue, time & country.
- Bookmaker- The bookmaker we will be using to place the eachway bet.
- Odds- The odds available to Back the horse.
- Win Exchange- This is the exchange we will be using to Lay the ‘win’ part of our bet.
- Place Exchange- This is the exchange we will be using to Lay the ‘place’ part of the bet.
- Run- This shows us the number of horses in the race.
- EW Rating (%)- This is the percentage profit per bet. For example if the rating is 106.54%, we would make a £6.54 profit per £100 bet (£50 each way).
- Free Bet Rating (%)- This is the percentage profit we would extract if we were using a free bet for the bet. For example if we had a £20 free bet an the SNR (%) was 80%, we would retain 80%, or £16 in monetary terms, from our free bet.
- Qual. Rating (%)- This shows the ‘normal’ arb rating. Ideally we want this to be below 100% so we are not drawing attention to our bet from the bookmakers traders.
- Max Profit- This shows us the maximum profit which is available based on the current liquidity which is available from the betting exchanges.
- Open Calculator- This shows us all of the calculations which you will need. We will discuss this in greater depth below.
Using the Calculator
Once we have identified and suitable match from The Eachway Matcher, we need to to place the bets. We will be placing 3 bets:
- The eachway Back bet at the bookmaker.
- The Lay bet in the exchange for the Win part of our eachway bet.
- The Lay bet in the exchange for the Place part of our eachway bet.
All of the calculations are done for us by the calculator. Remember the calculator will always open up with the Back stake pre set to the highest stake possible to extract the greatest profit based on the current liquidity in the betting exchanges. You should amend this for your desired stake.
The below picture shows an example of a £20 bet taking place which produced a qualifying loss of £0.89. Below we will explain each section of the calculator.
- This shows the information we need for the Back bet. We can see that the Back odds are 2.0 and we are placing an overall stake of £20 (remember this is essentially 2 separate bets- one of £10 on the horse to win and one of £10 on the horse to be placed). Below that we are told a little bit about the place information. There are 3 horses that will be placed (1st, 2nd and 3rd). We are then told the place payout is a fifth (?) of the starting odds. You do not need do any calculations yourself, but if you wanted to know what the place price is we use the formula: (decimal odds - 1) / place payout + 1. So in this example, the place odds would be: (2 - 1) /5 + 1= 1.2. This makes it easy to see where are gaining the value in this bet.
- This shows us a bit of information about the Lay section of the bet. We can see the odds available to Lay in both the Win market and the Place market. Below each of the prices we can see the amount which is available to Lay. Our advice would be to never Lay more than the amount which is currently available.
- In section 3 we can see all of the calculations and bets we need to place in order to make our profit. As you become more advanced with The Eachway Matcher you may want to change the order in which place these bets (see tips section). Be aware of the liability you will need to place these bets, in the above example we would need to make sure we have £11.07 available in Smarkets and £1.82 available in Betfair.
- Section 4 shows you the direct links. You do not need to waste time messing about looking for the different markets, the links will take you straight there (where available).
- We can see the profit we can expect in section 5. The drop down menu allows us to change it from a normal bet to a free bet. If we do this, all of the calculations will automatically be updated.
- If the odds change quickly, you can quickly calculate new stakes by inputting the odds change manually and pressing the recalculate button.
Customising the Eachway Matcher
There are different ways in which you can uniquely customise The Eachway Matcher to suit your own needs. This could be using only certain bookmakers or exchanges, only using matches between a certain odds range or filtering out ‘normal arb’. Whatever your requirement, this section will show you how to do this.
On the main page, you will see the different customisation options and we will discuss them below.
- By clicking the ‘ITV only’ button we will only see selections which are being shown on the ITV racing schedule. This means we are able to find horses which may qualify for a refund if placed second (such as the William Hill offer).
- The button ‘Extra Place Only’ button allows us to see only selections which will feature in a race which is offering an extra place guarantee. This makes it easy for us to find the best possible matches to take advantage of the extra places offered by bookmakers. (If you are unsure how to take advantage of extra place offers read the guide here).
- You can choose to hide races where one more withdrawal will reduce the number of places paid at the bookmaker.
- You can sort the results by any of the rating columns or by Max. Profit (descending).
The filter option looks like the image below.
- You can reset to default settings by clicking the reset option.
- You can refresh the results for the current settings by clicking the refresh button.
- You will see you are able to quickly filter your search to only display the sports you wish to include.
- You are also able to quickly filter to only display the bookmakers you wish to include.
