Bet Builders are becoming more and more common and they are often the first stumbling block for new members. You will see them in both the Welcome Offers and the reloads, similar to the below.
This is a quick breakdown with screenshots to show you how to place these bets.
The above offer has no minimum legs, so we just need to find a Bet Builder with 2 selections. For anything with 2 selections, my go to will always be Winner and Both Teams to Score.
A quick note as this is a very common mistake.
You cannot lay a custom Bet Builder with Smarkets. It has to be a single market.
Placing the Bets
The Bet Builder Section will be hiding in various places, normally on the specific match page. You will get used to where they are. On Betfair Sportsbook, it is just a tab at the top.
Now we have the right section, time to go for the Winner and Both Teams to Score (BTTS) market. Here, I will select Man Utd to win and Both Teams to Score - Yes. Click on the blue button next to Man Utd and the same for Both Teams to Score and they will show in the betslip.
The top box here is what we want, next to Doubles. It confirms Bet Builder in the header and our selections below. Total back odds, 2,22. Time for the lay bet.
We do not add in both selections like we did at Betfair. Remember it has to be a single market. Luckily for us Smarkets has us covered. The above market is where you need to lay, in the same way as a normal bet, so Man Utd/Yes is what we need here at is matches our back bet. Lay odds of 3.2.
All that's left to do it put it together. This wasn't the best match, but I was limited at writing it at 3pm on a Sunday!
The info we've gathered is put into the calculator, we place the £5 back bet and the £3.47 lay bet and we're done with the qualifying bet!
The method is identical for the free bet, we just need to aim for higher odds. Anywhere between 6 and 10 is ideal. Also, you're not going to get 80% retention on the free bet. Anything over 60% (£6 per £10 free bet), take it and run. Don't waste too much time looking for better.
Obviously there will be situations where you need 3 or 4 legs, we have you covered there too. There is a full table which you can find on this training guide. You will add them in the same way again. Draw, Both Teams to Score (BTTS) and under 2.5 goals here is a favourite, with a lay market of 1-1. You can find that lay market in the correct score section. Quick examples below.
Once you get the hang of it, that's all there is to it.
